4x4 Trips

South Africa is the perfect destination for 4x4 trips with its vast tracts of open countryside, rolling plains and mountain ranges that will challenge the toughest four-wheel drive enthusiast. Most 4x4 trips are either guided self-drive trips where you tour with your own vehicle and a guide, or you may be able to hire a Land Rover or Landcruiser from the tour company hosting the tour.

Accommodation on trips will vary from self-catering chalets and lodges to camping in the wild depending on the route, the weather and what the specific tour has to offer. The golden rule for 4x4 trips is to ensure that your vehicle is in sound mechanical order and that you or the tour company has recovery insurance or a recovery plan should something go wrong and you get stuck Remember to be aware of safety and always go well prepared.
